2019 harvest was challenging so say the least. Both Refurbished and New heaters were high in demand, and pushed us up into the next model of heater: the Flagro FVO400-RC units.
The "RC" unit features a 16 inch fan inlet on its hood, originally designed for "Recirculating" intake air from a building allowing the re-heating of warm air as opposed to direct heating (cold) outside air. Although we don't use the recirc feature in grain drying, its upgraded 4000CFM blower fan is well suited to balance the air pressure on the other side of aeration fans, and better "fill out" non Adaptive Agriculture "no crush" ducting work.
The embedded squirrel cage blower fan seems to win at better fuel mileage when coupled with our adapter plates + thermostats, and has more efficient heat likely due to the higher 4000 CFM fans blowing heat farther as compared to our standard FVO-400 models. We have customers that have both units on their bins, and they prefer the upgraded model.
We have two types of units in stock: Diesel or Propane/Natural gas models. Output is the standard dual 12 inch ports. The RC unit comes with skid steer/ loader rails for easier move with full fuel as well as diesel ignition pre-heat (easy cold starts) and run flat tires. The RC unit also features a power voltmeter, that measures the standard 110V voltage feeding the unit, which is useful when running off generators. The RC unit draws about 8 amps of power on the new squirrel cage fan design, over the 11 amp draw on the regular (2500 CFM Axial fan) FVO-400 model.
We also have re-stock on the “Black Adaptive Ag” heater ducting, that features a ‘no crush’ 4 inch pitch ring, which is sewn on the outside of the ducting (and made in Saskatoon!)
Our adapter plates are tuned and matched for 5-20 HP fans, and we now have limited stock (new design) - better fitting 3hp secondary ring adapters now as well.

Active Link Nov 2019:
Flagro 400,000 BTU diesel fired space heater, comes as a complete heating package c/w 2- 25foot heat delivery socks, and two transition pieces (mount on front of 5 or 7 HP aeration fans), it also comes with a thermostat and probe so you can adjust the air temperature going into your grain bin.
I used this unit warming air into two bins at the same time, and also used it with both socks going into one fan, drying one bin. The later was better.
Depending on the temperature outside, a tank of fuel will run between 13 hours and 48 hours, I was trying to have air going into the bin at about 32 degrees C.
Never had one before , bought this on September 22, and it paid for itself over and over in the next 3 weeks.
I think this equipment has far more applications than I'd have imagined for conditioning grain.
Personally, I straight cut grain at 18 -19 % , sometimes the combine monitor went into the 20's %, which seemed crazy at the time, but the forecast was for 8" of wet snow. Anyway, I finished the standing grain 10 hours before the snow, and spent the next week babysitting this dryer and my very damp grain. For the farmers in our area they know what happened to all that standing wheat , and durum, after the snow it was flat as a pancake, bleached and downgraded. The grain I warmed / dried with this heater was in the bin, top 2 grades, and dry. Over those 2 -3 weeks of drying, I was anxious to see how the grain would pan out, in the end I was very tired, but also tickled pink.
I don't know exactly how much this heater saved me, but I'd guess it was more than 10 times what I paid for it.
These heaters are usually used to heat buildings or equipment, and I have no doubt it would be great there as well. I paid $7,662.90 for the heater and accessories on September 25th, and I'm selling it for $6750.00.
Farmers if you don't have one of these, you should get this one.
Don't know when I last had equipment that paid for itself in one year, this thing paid for itself 10 times over in 3 weeks.
Why am I selling it you ask, well I'm retiring, my grain is dry, and I'm gonna spend some time with my grandkids.
This Flagro heater is as close to new as you'll find, still on the Pallet sitting on my little trailer (open warranty from Adaptive Ag)
The second picture shows the probe which you drill into your aeration transition, and the Binapt monitor shows the temperature of the probe, (which would be the temperature in the aeration ductwork if installed) and the lower number you set where you want the temperature to be, (in this case it reads 31C)
Many of our users have been asking for time of day adjustments for heat settings.
Just in time for canola season, Bindapt PLUS now offers an easier way to manage your heat.
Some of the guidelines suggest a 'ten degree over outside air temperature. This also has to be balanced with the concept of getting your bin warmed up to the "drying zone" of 20 degrees. One technique is to apply a larger amoutn fo supplemental heat during the day, using the lower part of the bin that has been warmed to continually draw warm dry air through the bin, and then backing off the heat at night.
Bindapt plus allows the flexibility for this to automatically happen with time heat control settings, while continuing to allow warm dry air to enter the bin. The In plenum humidity sensor visually allows you to see the air entering the bin and monitor the continued drying process by avoiding significant in bin humidity.
When canola warms up, a lot of humidity will quickly come out to the grain. The challenge is setting up an environment where there is sufficient air movement to allow that humidity to be drawn up and out of the bin.
When the dry heat is turned on, the blended humidity of the air entering the bin drops as shown below.

NEW added feature = Added piece of mind! The Notifications feature is now available for humidity settings. Just in time for #Harvest19
Attached below is a real example of what happens in your bin in the middle of the night when your heater quits...and how BINDAPT PLUS monitors that activity.
Your heat drops, your humidity rises...quickly. An email and text message is sent to your phone and computer, preventing the resulting high humidity with straight outside air, not supplemented by heat that starts to enter the bin overnight.
BINDAPT PLUS not only tracks and monitors Air Temperature, Air Humidity and Static Pressure entering your grain bins, but also pushes notifications to your phone; helping you to more safely dry your grain, and stay in the loop when there is an issue with your fuel levels or even a power outage affecting your fan.
Simply click on the "Add interaction, and then select "If Humidity Percentage is greater than XXX, Notify" via text message + Email.
In the example below, supplemental heat blend takes the humidity from 86% down to the grain drying zone of 24% In the example below, the setpoint is set to 30 degrees, (which can be changed).
When the heater runs out of fuel, the example shows the drying process possibly going the wrong way (adding humidity into the bin). This could have been prevented by adding the interaction as shown below.
